MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - Moss Point officials say they have assurances that the state of Mississippi will help pay for construction of a new safety complex.

The complex will include a new jail.

City board attorney Amy St. Pe’ says the Mississippi Development Authority will also help expedite the construction contract reviews.

The Mississippi Press reports (https://bit.ly/1C0HQhA ) the total cost for the complex is about $3.4 million. The funding comes from the city, the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

St. Pe’ says the next step is to find out how quickly the architect can get the bids ready for advertisement and draw up a timeline for the entire project.

The two-story facility will be located near the main fire station. It will have administrative offices, courtrooms, meeting space and an evidence room.
