FRANKLIN, La. (AP) - A St. Mary Parish jailer has been arrested after he allegedly admitting to bringing in cellphones to prisoners inside the jail.

KATC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1FfFkYj ) 25-year-old Yeron Diaz-Soler, of Franklin, was booked Thursday on counts of bringing contraband into a penal institution and malfeasance in office. He was later released on $7,000 bond.

St. Mary Parish detectives questioned Diaz-Soler during an investigation into cellphones being smuggled into the jail in Centerville. Authorities say during questioning, he allegedly admitted to bringing the phones to the inmates.

It was unknown if Diaz-Soler has an attorney. His employment status was not immediately available.
