EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police are investigating the death of a 46-year-old inmate at the Lane County Jail in Eugene.

State police Lt. Josh Brooks says deputies and medical workers at the jail found Troy Bailey of Eugene unconscious and not breathing Friday in his single cell.

They performed CPR for about 30 minutes until the inmate was pronounced dead.

Brooks says the initial investigation suggests the death was a suicide.

The Lane County sheriff’s office asked state police to lead the investigation.
