PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island State Police have found no probable cause to file criminal charges against a Pawtucket police major who was accused of playing golf and doing other personal activities on city time.

State police Col. Steven O’Donnell announced the results of the investigation into Maj. Bruce Moreau on Friday. O’Donnell says the investigation report has been turned over to Pawtucket police for their internal investigation.

The investigation was prompted by a news story by the Hummel Report that said Moreau played golf or was at his home on days when city records showed he was paid to be at work.

Moreau didn’t return a message Friday. He has denied golfing on work days and said he has an alternate work schedule when he sometimes leaves early and comes in late.
