GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) - A large trona mine in southwest Wyoming is getting a new owner.

FMC Corp. is selling its Green River operation, Alkali Chemicals, to international mining company Tronox for $1.64 billion.

FMC spokesman David Caplan tells the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner (https://bit.ly/1DmO4g3 ) that the sale will not be final until around April.

Caplan says he doesn’t expect a lot of changes involving employees from the sale.

He says the transaction means the Green River operation will have more “strength and stability” for potential future growth.

Caplan says it’s too early to say if the Green River site will have its name changed.
