FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Hood College in Frederick is naming a new president.

The private, liberal-arts school said Monday that its board of trustees has chosen Andrea Chapdelaine (CHAP’-deh-layne) of Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, to succeed Ronald Volpe (VOHL’-pee).

Chapdelaine is provost and vice president for academic affairs at Albright. She will become Hood’s 11th president on July 1.

Volpe is retiring June 30 after leading Hood through 14 years of change and growth. His oversaw Hood’s conversion from a women’s college to a fully coeducational institution in 2003.

Chapdelaine has a doctorate and master’s degree in social psychology from the University of Connecticut.
