MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota guard Carlie Wagner has been chosen for the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week award for women’s basketball.

The honor was announced on Monday by the conference.

Wagner averaged 22 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists over two games last week, a loss at Illinois and a win over Michigan State. She shot 48.5 percent from the field, making 16 of 33 attempts. That included 8 of 19 from 3-point range. She’s third on the team in scoring this season.

The Gophers lost four out of five games until beating Michigan State on Sunday. They host Wisconsin on Wednesday. Minnesota is 18-6 overall and 7-5 in the Big Ten.
