WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia police say they have arrested a man who walked into a northeast Washington police station and tried to remove a gun from his pants.

Police say the incident happened Thursday night about 10:30 p.m. Police say two officers saw the man pulling a gun from his pants and quickly disarmed him.

Police say the man had a black replica pistol.

Investigators later determined the man had committed an armed carjacking just prior to entering the police station.

Police have charged 18-year-old D’Angelo Hamilton of northeast Washington with carjacking, assault on a police officer and carrying a dangerous weapon. Investigators say Hamilton’s motive at the police station is not clear and remains under investigation.
