RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Average gas prices in several Virginia cities are down more than a dollar a gallon from a year ago.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says average prices in Roanoke and Richmond have fallen below $2 per gallon.

On Monday, the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline was $1.97 in Richmond and $1.98 in Roanoke. That’s down from $3.18 in Richmond and $3.13 in Roanoke a year ago.

The average price in Charlottesville was $2.05 per gallon, down from $3.18 a year ago.

The Norfolk area’s average price was $2.08 per gallon on average, compared to $3.26 a year ago.

Statewide, the average price was $2.05 on Monday, compared to $3.21 a year ago. Nationally, the average price fell from $3.31 a year ago to $2.13.
