LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Gov. Rick Snyder’s torn Achilles tendon has forced him to cancel a trip to Switzerland next week for an economic forum.

Snyder spokesman Jarrod Agen said Monday that doctors advised the Republican governor against the travel. He was scheduled to speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, a few days after giving his State of the State address in Lansing.

Snyder tore the tendon last week after jogging during a vacation in Florida. He will be in a cast for six weeks.

The trip would have let Snyder tout what he says is Michigan and Detroit’s resurgence.

It also would have put the potential presidential candidate in touch with world leaders, business chiefs and other power brokers at the annual gathering in the Swiss ski resort of Davos.
