LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials say a 51-year-old man shot and killed at his home had been in a car crash with the suspected shooter, who followed the victim home.

The suspect remains at large Monday.

Deputy Amber Smith says the suspect refused to exchange information with the victim following the crash Saturday, and instead demanded $500 for the damage to his vehicle.

City News Service reports the suspect followed the victim home and demanded the money again. The victim refused and the suspect drove away. He returned about an hour later and fired several rounds, striking the man in the upper torso.

The victim was identified by the coroner’s office as Darrell Daniels.

A description of the gunman was not made available.
