BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Police say a caller defrauded an 86-year-old Bismarck woman out of $1,800 by posing as the woman’s grandson.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/14S9dkp) that the caller told the woman he had hit somebody in a vehicle accident and needed money. The woman complied by wiring the money to an account in the Philippines.

Police say the scammer called the woman later and asked for an additional $2,200, but by that time she had spoken with her grandson.
