COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Reserve linebacker Kaiwan Lewis said Monday he’s leaving South Carolina.

Lewis announced on Twitter that he would finish up his degree at South Carolina and then look to play his senior season at “another division 1 program without sitting out a year,” he wrote in his post.

Lewis is a six-foot junior from Pleasantville, New Jersey. He started 10 games and was third on the team with 54 tackles as a sophomore in 2013. However, he made only one start and 20 tackles this past season. Lewis did not play in South Carolina’s regular-season finale at Clemson or its 24-21 victory over Miami at the Independence Bowl last month.

Lewis says he spent several months considering his choices and spoke with those close to him about his next move.
