SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Sparks police are searching for a robbery suspect who claimed he had a bomb when he carjacked an SUV at a gas station.

Police say a woman was filling up her Ford Explorer with gas at the AM/PM on Victorian Avenue when the man pushed her away and jumped in the vehicle just before 8 a.m. Saturday.

Officers found the SUV unoccupied near Oddie Boulevard and El Rancho Drive. There was no bomb. They spotted the suspect but he fled into an apartment building and disappeared.

He’s described as a 5-foot-8, bald, black man with tattoos on his head and a beard. He was wearing a gray button-up shirt with sunglasses and earrings in both ears.

Anyone with information should contact Sparks police or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
