HAVRE, Mont. (AP) - A woman faces charges of elder abuse and theft after prosecutors say she took nearly $50,000 in cash and property from an elderly Hill County man.

The Havre Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1AIyadg ) the charges against Lisa L. Cole were filed on Dec. 30. The District Court clerk’s office says a warrant was issued for Cole’s arrest and she is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 22. A public defender was being appointed.

The man reported the thefts in October.

Prosecutors allege Cole withdrew $28,000 from the man’s bank account without his permission and borrowed $10,000 on which she had not made any payments. The victim also reported $10,500 in cash was missing from his house and a safe in his car. He also reported some tools missing.

Cole was the man’s power of attorney.
