FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - A southwest Florida woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the death of her 3-year-old grandson.

A Lee County judge sentenced 57-year-old Gale Watkins on Monday.

Prosecutors say Gale Watkins and two others were charged in the October 2013 death of Michael Watkins, who suffocated after being wrapped tightly in blankets as a form of discipline.

The News-Press (https://goo.gl/XaygQ0) reports the boy’s stepfather, 22-year-old Douglas Garrigus, accepted a plea deal and will serve 10 years in prison. In July, 46-year-old Donella Trainor pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
