LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Prosecutors would get a 1 percent pay raise under a funding bill now headed to the floor of the Arkansas Legislature.

The Legislature’s Joint Budget Committee approved the bill Tuesday that sets aside $5 million for 28 prosecuting attorneys throughout the state and for other judicial expenses. The bill also includes $2.5 million in expense reimbursements for lawmakers.

The bill is traditionally the first piece of legislations lawmakers approve at the start of the legislative session.

The committee approved the bill shortly before Gov.-elect Asa Hutchinson’s swearing-in as Arkansas’ next governor.
