AUBURN, Maine (AP) - An Auburn city councilor was arrested after a disturbance at a club over the weekend, but says he did nothing wrong.

Police say Leroy Walker was arrested late Saturday night after an altercation with another man at the New Auburn Social Club.

Responding officers say Walker assaulted a female bystander and refused to sign a criminal summons.

Walker and the other man were both charged with assault.

Police say alcohol was a factor.

Walker told the Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/1AVdRMg ) on Monday that he refused to sign the summons because he’s innocent.

He said the entire situation amounted to a misunderstanding and was simply a disagreement with another man.

Walker was elected in 2011.
