CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - It’s a bit easier to deal with parking tickets in Charleston.

The city announced Tuesday that visitors can now pay tickets online through the city’s website.

Mayor Joe Riley says paying online is something that has been suggested by visitors and residents. Tourism officials estimate Charleston attracts about 4 million visitors a year.

Those who receive tickets can go to the website and pay their fines with a valid debit card, MasterCard or Visa 24 hours after they receive the citation.

People can also still pay fines in person, over the phone and by mail.
