PHOENIX (AP) - A man has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for a shooting death last year in northern Pinal County.

Prosecutors say 22-year-old Christian Kisto Vela was sentenced Monday.

Vela pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last October.

He was accused in a fatal April 12 shooting outside a home in Bapchule.

Authorities say Vela is a member of the Gila River Indian Community.
