ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Forecasters say light freezing rain and drizzle are possible across far northern South Carolina east of Interstate 77.

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for overnight and early Wednesday. Forecasters say a trace to a few hundredths of an inch of rain could fall into below freezing temperatures.

Officials say that would cause a lot of ice, but only a small coating is needed to make bridges slippery. Troopers and road crews will monitor conditions.

Electric companies are also watching to see if the ice is heavier than expected. A major ice storm last February knocked out power to 400,000 customers across the Midlands and Pee Dee.
