PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Portland Public Schools Board of Education is scheduled to vote Tuesday night on proposed changes to make the district’s enrollment and transfer policy more fair.

The changes would end the lottery transfer system for neighborhood schools. Transfers to and from neighborhood schools would be solely through a petition system.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1wUnRiH ) the changes would be made in the next school year.
