RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Rapid City issued more than $200 million in construction permits for the fourth straight year.

The Rapid City Journal (https://bit.ly/1CgRu10 ) reports the city granted roughly $214 million in permits in 2014. While the amount is not a record, city officials say last year’s figures show that Rapid City continues to grow steadily.

Brett Limbaugh is Rapid City’s director of community planning and development. Limbaugh says a fourth year of “strong” building permit activity “is a positive sign we are exiting the impacts of the Great Recession.”

The two most expensive permits were given for two new auto dealerships. Each permit was for about $10 million. A new health center, motorcycle dealership expansion and a municipal pool rounded out the top five.
