PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) - Rutgers and Virginia Tech have agreed to a two-game football series starting in 2023.

The schools announced the agreement on Tuesday, saying the Hokies will play in New Jersey on Sept. 16, 2023, while the Scarlet Knights will pay in Blacksburg, Va., on Sept. 21, 2024.

The former Big East rivals have met 15 previous times, with the most recent meeting being in the 2012 Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

Virginia Tech of the Atlantic Coast Conference went 7-6 in 2014 and defeated Cincinnati, 33-17, in the Military Bowl.
