SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Sonoma County are searching for a minimum-security jail inmate who walked away from a work crew.

KPIX-TV reports (https://cbsloc.al/1CdIh9N) 38-year-old Michael Brandon Gentuso was last seen Monday morning along a road in Santa Rosa.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Cecile Focha says the 38-year-old inmate discarded his denim North County Detention Facility uniform and left the area.

Officials have obtained an arrest warrant and released photos of Gentuso.

He was booked into jail last month and was convicted of possession of a controlled substance on Jan. 7. Focha says he was serving a 90-day sentence and was scheduled to be released on April 3.

She says walking away from a work crew is considered an escape from custody and is a felony.
