SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A state Senate committee has unanimously confirmed Gov. Gary Herbert’s nominee to the state liquor board.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/14SUHcc ) the Senate Business and Labor Confirmation Committee approved hospital executive Steven B. Bateman on Monday afternoon.

Bateman would replace Dennis Nordfelt, the former West Valley City mayor and Utah Highway Patrol superintendent who died in August.

Bateman is the chief executive officer of St. Mark’s Hospital.

His nomination now goes to the full Utah Senate for consideration.
