MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Mayors Coalition has released its priorities for the legislation session.

The coalition of eight mayors is calling for education reform and waterway protection from stormwater runoff.

The mayors released their legislative session goals and their commitment to advocate for these areas of common interest at a State House press conference on Tuesday.

The coalition was created in 2013 and includes the mayors of Vergennes, St. Albans, Montpelier, Barre, Rutland, Newport, Winooski and Burlington.

Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger says the Vermont Mayors Coalition will work hard this session “to see that action is taken to keep our education system strong and financially sustainable and to create a fair, effective, and efficient system for protecting our waterways.”
