WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of the archdiocese of New York will join the bishop of the diocese of Wheeling and Charleston later this month to celebrate a “Red Mass.”

In the Roman Catholic Church, a Red Mass is celebrated to guide those who work in the administration of justice. A number of local officials are expected to attend the Jan. 24 Mass at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling.

Besides Dolan, West Virginia Bishop Michael J. Bransfield will concelebrate the Mass with priests of the diocese.

The Red Mass has been celebrated annually at the Cathedral of St. Joseph since 2009.
