WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - A former West Virginia correctional officer has been indicted on charges she had sex with a juvenile inmate at the Northern Juvenile Center in Wheeling.

The 42-year-old defendant, Krisinda McMahon, was indicted Tuesday on five counts of felony offenses of sexual acts on an incarcerated person and five counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust, according to media reports.

McMahon was arrested last July after an inmate told a state police trooper she had sexual contact with her over a several-month period in 2014.

If convicted McMahon would face five to 15 years in prison, according to state law.
