DENVER (AP) - Jefferson County Republicans are looking for candidates to fill an empty spot in the state House.

The county GOP is inviting members of the public to apply for the seat vacated by Rep. Libby Szabo (ZAY-bo).

Szabo is stepping down after being appointed to the county commission. She was first elected to the seat in 2010.

The district is in northern Jefferson County and includes parts of Arvada.

Under state rules, the party in control of a legislative seat names a replacement if the member resigns. The Jefferson County GOP plans a conference call with interested candidates Saturday. A public meeting will be held at the end of the month to settle on a successor.
