SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota state representative has formed a group backing potential presidential candidate Jeb Bush.

Rep. Steve Westra, R-Sioux Falls, says he formed South Dakotans for Jeb Bush to show a “signal of support” for the potential candidate. Bush announced in December of 2014 that he was creating a presidential exploratory committee.

Westra says Bush, the son and brother of two former presidents, has views that align with majority of South Dakota voters.

The second-term representative has also started a Facebook page that will gather names and information of those wishing to be counted as early Bush backers. The names of those who enter their name of Westra’s petition will be sent to Bush at the end February.
