ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Lovington man has been sentenced to 12 ½ years in prison for violating federal firearm laws.

Prosecutors say 34-year-old Cody Allen Little also was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Las Cruces to three years of supervised release.

Little was arrested in June 2012 and charged with being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition and possession of stolen firearms in a superseding indictment.

Authorities say Little unlawfully possessed firearms and ammunition - including a stolen assault rifle and a stolen shotgun - on Nov. 1, 2011 in Lea County.

At the time, Little was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because he’d previously been convicted of several felony offenses in New Mexico.

A federal jury convicted Little on both counts of the superseding indictment in May 2013.
