KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - PacifiCorp is pushing back against the city of Klamath Falls’ efforts to take over PacifiCorp’s facilities and equipment and form a city-owned utility.

The Herald and News (https://bit.ly/1AJ9bnB ) reports PacifiCorp filed a lawsuit in federal court in Medford last week claiming the city unilaterally adopted an ordinance renewing PacifiCorp’s franchise to provide the city with electricity without any agreement to terms by PacifiCorp.

Among PacifiCorp’s objections is language limiting what the city has to pay if it takes over PacifiCorp facilities through eminent domain. The lawsuit adds that the ordinance was retaliation for resisting the takeover.

The City Council tabled the takeover idea a year ago, and city leaders say they have no interest in reviving it.

The city says its lawyer is reviewing the suit.
