CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - A South Texas woman has been sentenced to probation after being convicted of fatally running over her boyfriend outside a bar after she found him with a group of women inside the business.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1EoF0pC ) Dena Gomez had faced a murder charge but was convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter for the 2013 death of Alfredo Ayala Jr.

Prosecutors alleged Gomez had meant to kill Ayala because she had found him with women in the bar when he told her he was at work.

Defense attorneys had told jurors Gomez only meant to rev her vehicle’s engine and killing Ayala, who died of head injuries, was accidental.

Most of Ayala’s family rallied behind Gomez, who was sentenced on Tuesday. Gomez was also fined $10,000.
