MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont House Speaker Shap Smith says he wants to hear from the public on ideas for promoting economic development in the state.

Smith issued a statement Tuesday saying he wants to hear from Vermonters, employers, policy makers and other stakeholders on ideas to promote economic development and job growth.

Smith issued a similar call for ideas on reforming Vermont’s education and school funding system in December, and says he passed the responses on for consideration by the House Education Committee.

Smith says he’s hoping for responses to his new request by Feb. 3. They can be sent electronically to [email protected]vt.us, or by ground mail to Speaker’s Office, 115 State St., Montpelier, VT, 05633.

The speaker says this round of ideas will go to the House Economic Development and Commerce Committee.
