ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Arlington County firefighters have rescued two people from the roof of a burning home.

Fire Capt. Gregg Karl tells WUSA-TV (https://on.wusa9.com/1AMcSZL ) that crews arrived to the home around 3 a.m. Wednesday to find flames and heavy smoke on all three levels of the home. Two people were on the roof of the porch.

Firefighters then rescued the people, who had been woken by smoke alarms.

Karl says crews had difficulty putting out the flames because there were hoarding conditions in the home. The fire was under control around 4:30 a.m.

The two people who were rescued were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Their injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
