BERRIEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a body has been found following a fire at a southwestern Michigan home.

The Berrien County sheriff’s department says it responded along with fire crews late Tuesday and found the Berrien Township home fully engulfed in flames.

The department says the body was found after the fire was extinguished. The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy. The name of the person who died wasn’t immediately released, pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
