LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - A federal Bankruptcy Court has approved the sale of a Mohave County copper mine that ceased operations and laid off approximately 400 workers in December.

The Today’s News-Herald (https://goo.gl/V26y7w ) reports that the $10 million sale of the Mineral Park Mine to Origin Mining Corp. was approved Tuesday in Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

Under the transaction, the new owner will assume responsibility of $3.5 million of environmental obligations.

The previous owner, Vancouver, British Columbia-based Mercator Mineral Park Holdings Ltd., on Aug. 25 filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.

Mohave County officials on Tuesday conferred with attorneys about how to press for payment of more than $15 million of back taxes.
