BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - After several tries, Brattleboro, Vermont, has a new town manager.

Peter Elwell spent his first day on the job Tuesday meeting staff and preparing for a Selectboard meeting that included discussions on the budget and other topics.

He tells the Brattleboro Reformer (https://bit.ly/1bI41RH) that in the coming days and weeks, he will help the staff and Selectboard prioritize the many issues facing the town.

Elwell was hired in October.
