LOS ANGELES (AP) - Prosecutors have filed felony charges against a man accused of driving off with an undercover Los Angeles police officer hanging onto the side of his SUV, which ultimately crashed and left the officer with broken bones.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office says 21-year-old Grant Anthony Muldrow pleaded not guilty Tuesday to one count each of assaulting a police officer, kidnapping and transportation for sale of a controlled substance.

According to prosecutors, the officer was trying to arrest Muldrow, who sped off, dragging him alongside the vehicle as it reached speeds of up to 45 mph in Granada Hills.

Muldrow was ordered to return to court Feb. 10.

The officer broke several bones but is expected to fully recover.
