MAYHEW, Miss. (AP) - East Mississippi Community College president Rick Young will retire June 30.

Young has been president of the north Mississippi junior college since 2004. Young’s career spans 42 years in education. He has worked at EMCC team for 40 of those years.

Kathy Dyess, chairwoman of the EMCC Board of Trustees, says in a news release that the search for Young’s replacement will begin Feb. 2, when instructions for potential applicants will be available on the EMCC website.

Dyess says the deadline to submit applications will be March 27.

EMCC was founded in 1927. It had its beginnings in 1912 as Kemper County Agricultural High School. It gets financial support from the state and from Clay, Kemper, Lauderdale, Lowndes, Noxubee and Oktibbeha counties.
