ST. LOUIS (AP) - A former St. Louis police officer has dropped a defamation lawsuit against prosecutors.

Joseph Seper filed suit in 2010, a year after a jury found him not guilty of two misdemeanors - making a false report and making a false declaration.

Prosecutors claimed he lied on a written report that a detective saw a fleeing suspect throw a handgun into bushes, and that the lie was aimed at getting charges filed against the suspect.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1ulWMnv ) reports that Seper dropped the suit on Friday. His attorney says Seper is now working outside the country for a private security firm and is unable to deal with the lawsuit.
