ESTES PARK, Colo. (AP) - More than 3.4 million people spent time at Rocky Mountain National Park last year, the park’s highest number of annual visitors since 2000.

Spokeswoman Kyle Patterson says glorious fall colors and good weather helped boost attendance.

According to KUNC, the main road through the park stayed open later than usual and there were a lot of people that were coming to get that last drive on Trail Ridge before it shut down for the winter.

Rocky Mountain National Park is celebrating its centennial anniversary through September of this year.
