CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Austin Peay has raised more than $8,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project by auctioning off 80 camouflage jerseys the Governors wore for their homecoming game to honor the military at Fort Campbell.

The Governors wore the camouflage jerseys Nov. 8 against Tennessee State featuring the nicknames of units from Fort Campbell in place of players’ names on the back. That jersey violation cost Austin Peay a timeout each quarter in a 31-27 loss for violating the NCAA’s Rule 1, Article 5 for proper numerals and lettering.

Austin Peay will host representatives from the Wounded Warrior Project and present the donation at an upcoming basketball game.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a service organization providing help to any service member or their family injured on or since Sept. 11, 2001.
