DETROIT (AP) - A former Detroit prep football star who assaulted a school security officer and later pushed his girlfriend was released from jail Wednesday morning.

Eighteen-year-old Jayru Campbell served a 60-day jail sentence for body-slamming a security guard in January 2014. On the same September day he was released, authorities say he pushed a 17-year-old girl to the ground at Cass Technical High School.

The Detroit Free Press (https://on.freep.com/1wp21Te ) reports Campbell received a seven-month sentence, with credit for time served, for violating his probation. He pleaded guilty in November to a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence and was sentenced to a year of probation.

Prosecutors asked a judge Tuesday to reinstate felony charges against Campbell in the girl’s assault.
