PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Portland police say a 21-year-old man has been found guilty except for insanity for the March 2012 murder of his father.

On Tuesday, Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Edward Jones sentenced Jacob James Simon to lifetime supervision by the Psychiatric Security Review Board. He’ll be transferred from jail to Oregon State Hospital in Salem.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says officers who responded on March 27, 2012, to a stabbing report at a home in the Fox Run mobile home park in northeast Portland found 61-year-old Peter Simon dead. Jacob Simon’s mother, 58-year-old Sheryl Simon, was wounded.

Jacob Simon was arrested at the scene. He was 18 at the time.

Prosecutors say the younger man ate dinner with his parents, then attacked them with swords and a gun as they slept.
