ATLANTA (AP) - Police south of Atlanta are investigating the killing of a man gunned down in a public park.

Fulton County police Det. Melissa Parker said the man — whose name wasn’t immediately released — was shot around 3 p.m. Tuesday in Cliftondale Park off of Butner Road.

Parker tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/1COA1gP) that an acquaintance took the wounded man to his house in a nearby subdivision and called 911. Paramedics then took the victim to Atlanta Medical Center South, where he was pronounced dead.

Parker said detectives are investigating how many people were involved and the motive for the shooting.
