CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Heating system repairs are sending inmates at Potomac Highlands Regional Jail to other regional facilities.

The West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority said Tuesday the repair work at the Hampshire County facility in Augusta includes purging the system lines of liquid propane.

Authority Executive Director Joe DeLong said the safety of staff and inmates prompted the decision to relocate the jail’s population.

Approximately 200 inmates are housed at Potomac Highlands. The repairs are expected to take two to three days.
