PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix man has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and neglect after police seized three dogs from his home.

Phoenix police say 24-year-old Chrison Charale Johnson is accused of three felony counts of animal cruelty/neglect and one felony count of intentional mistreatment.

He’s being held on $2,100 bond and doesn’t have an attorney yet.

Police were assisting the Arizona Humane Society about an abused pit bull at a home Tuesday.

Believing the dog was having trouble breathing because its collar was embedded in its neck, a Humane Society officer took the dog for treatment.

Police officers inspected the property and reported finding two other dogs.

The dogs were taken to the Human Society’s Second Chance Animal Hospital for medical evaluations and treatment while police continue their investigation.
