COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (AP) - Officials have arrested a man in connection to the discovery of a severely injured 4-month-old girl in southeastern Iowa.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says 21-year-old Oscar Jimenez was arrested Tuesday in Columbus Junction on a charge of multiple acts of child endangerment.

Authorities say local police responded Monday to information that a baby had been injured. She was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital, where she is being treated for severe head trauma and remains in critical condition.

If convicted, Jimenez could face up to 50 years in prison. Court records do not list an attorney.

No further information has been released.
